The right recognition program will becomes part of a company’s mythology.
I recently chatted with my team at SRG (supplier) about the custom awards they do for AMPLIFY. Custom awards can feel like wandering through the Smithsonian with a corporate credit card, so the easiest way start is to tackle it by understanding the types of awards and the stories they’re meant to tell.
AMP Tools > Trophies
AMP Tools > Plaques
AMP Tools > Pine & Medals
AMP Tools > Paperweights
AMP Tools > Vases
Milestone & Years of Service Awards > These are your legacy pieces. The “Wow… they’ve been here HOW long?” moments.
Getting them right takes a little setup because you’re creating something timeless enough to present year after year. Once the design is dialed in, though, the process practically runs on autopilot. The same program can be used for 100+ years. The magic here is consistency. Employees start recognizing the award before they even receive it. It becomes a badge of honour.
Financial & Professional Achievement Awards > These can range from beautifully simple to wildly creative.
Some companies prefer elegant acrylic or crystal blocks with embedded recognition details and gives the vibes that it was cut by a jeweller. Others lean into interactive milestone systems, puzzle-style builds, stackable cubes, or achievement trackers that grow alongside the employee’s success.
One thing the designers at SRG strongly recommend: standardization. Even the cleanest, simplest award looks impressive when years of achievement line up together on a shelf. It transforms recognition into visual proof of momentum. Like trophies for grown-ups… except instead of scoring goals, Susan in accounting conquered Q4 without setting the printer on fire.
Sports Awards > This category practically writes itself.
From championship trophies to affordable player keepsakes, AMPLIFY carries a massive range of sports-related awards across every budget imaginable. Pricing can start modestly, making it easy to create something meaningful whether you’re celebrating an entire team or the kid who lead the series in the most foul balls into the parking lot.
Fun Awards & Culture Builders > Now we enter the glorious chaos category.
These are the awards people talk about at the holiday party. Things like “Early Bird,” “Fire Extinguisher,” or “Best New Employee” create inside jokes, shared memories, and stronger company culture. The team at SRG shared an example that involved an employee who shattered a glass door on his first day. Instead of burying the story forever, the company embedded the actual door handle into an award then presented at his retirement. Later, they recreated the idea as a “Best Newcomer” award. That’s not just recognition. That’s folklore.
When reviewing culture pieces, she highlighted the Indigenous-designed collections as an example for the things they have done for distinct groups. They are stunning, meaningful, and genuinely distinctive. A meaningful piece of art can be designed from scratch to connect with traditional values and core messages.
If you been to a museum, you likely saw some items embedded into clear blocks and shapes. An example is an embedded butterfly piece available for science centres and museum-style displays. Police badges, and other one-of-a kind items are perfect to permanently keep safe inside an award like these. I’m certain that anything can be created into an award as long as it has a story attached to it.
At AMPLIFY, we don’t just source awards. We help organizations build moments people remember long after the applause fades. Whether you need polished professionalism, team spirit, or a trophy commemorating “The Great Glass Door Incident of 1976,” we’ll help you find the right fit.
Let’s turn recognition into something people fight for. Create something so the employees at your competitor are asking, why doesn’t our company do cool stuff like that?
Let’s start with a blank sheet of paper, a coffee or a cocktail, and brainstorm highlights about your company so we can start designing awards for your brand. Call me at 705-626-TIM-1 or email tim@ampbroker.ca.
